Wonderful Weekend...

It was a wonderful weekend full of fun times with friends and family.

Friday, I left work early, picked my little guy up from daycare and joined some friends for lunch. We had a great time. It was so nice to see Cheryl and I was excited that she finally got to meet Camden, Aiden and Colin. Okay so Camden was a little cranky because he was hungry and it was nap time but besides that...it was a great lunch! Later in the evening, I headed out with the girls (and Ben) to help Steph celebrate her 33rd birthday. Except for the part where a guy called me, Keira and Kristi G. old in a round about way, the night was super fun.

Saturday was family day. I tried to make Brian toast with a heart shaped egg in the middle but it didn't exactly turn out. It's the thought that counts...right?

After breakfast we headed out to Touch-a-Truck. Camden had a blast. We're definitely going again. At lunch, Camden had a great time flirting with the waitresses and was super excited when they brought him a balloon.

After a short nap, Camden painted some pictures to give to his grandparents for Grandparents Day. He seemed to enjoy painting. He was focused and trying to figure out what was going on but by the end he seemed to get the hang of it. Thanks Pat, Maya and Zane for the art supplies.

Later in the evening we headed over to Keira and Brandon's for the game and had a great time hanging out with everyone. We all know how the game ended so there's no reason to mention it. AHHH!

Sunday was another full day. My dad and Grandma came to town for a quick visit. The five of us along with Hannah headed over to Gahanna for Family Fun Day at Creekside Park. We had a picnic, took our shoes off and played in the creek, Hannah played on the inflatables and Camden got a tattoo and a balloon. The day ended with a quick trip to a park near our house with Keira, Aiden, Jenny and Emma. Hope your weekend was just as fun!

Picnic at the park...

Keira and Brandon had a great idea for dinner this evening. We loaded up the cars and had a picnic at a park by their house. We had such a great time but I have to admit the new parents were more prepared that we were! We forgot our stroller and I forgot to restock the diaper bag with wipes! Brandon and Keira had it all including a blanket for us to sit on, a radio and a football!

Aiden and Camden kept us entertained and busy. I can't wait to them running around the park playing together one day soon. Here are some pics from our evening....

Lost then found...

Brian found the pictures!! They were somehow saved to the Recycle Bin...? Anyway, here are some pics from yesterday.

Congratulations Jason and Katie...

My friend, Jason, married the love of his life this past weekend and Brian and I made the the drive down down to Cumming, GA to attend. Yes, just Brian and I...no Camden. Camden spent the weekend being spoiled by his Grandma and Grandpa Laurent!

The wedding and reception took place at The Reid Barn. The pictures below don't do justice to how unique and perfect this spot was. I can't wait to see the pictures the were taken by the photographer. Brian and I are so happy we were able to be there to help Jason and Katie celebrate.
Although I love living in Columbus, I miss my Indy friends!

Shower Weekend

This past weekend was fun and definitely went by too fast. Friday, my mom flew in from Arizona. Brian picked her up from the airport and I met them at our house around 11am. I hadn't seen my mom since last September so this was very exciting and emotional. I started crying before I even opened the door! It was so nice to be able to spend time with her. Friday afternoon we went to Babies R Us and to pick up the gifts from my mom and Dennis. They got us the pack and play and the car seat for Camden. Friday night mom was exhausted from flying through the night so we stayed in and fell asleep early.

Saturday, the day of the shower, we all woke up around 6:30am. Brian started working on the yard and mom made breakfast. Now, I usually don't let guests cook but my mom makes this very tasty gravy that I absolutely love so she made that while I made the eggs....yum! We headed over to Keira’s for the shower around 2pm. I am so blessed to have friends and family that care so much for me, Brian and Camden. We had people drive in from Indy, Lorain, Xenia, Decatur, and Toledo. They all drove so far, I wish I could have spent more time with them. Keira, Cindy and Laurel did an amazing job planning the shower. The food was great, the decorations were beautiful and the games were fun. Everyone seemed to have a great time. The one thing I wish I would have done is take more pictures! I took my camera and tried to take pics of everyone there but missed a lot of people. I only have one picture with one group of friends and a picture with my mom. I wanted a pic with me, mom and Terri and one with me, Keira, Laurel and Cindy and with my friends from Indy and it totally didn’t happen. Come to think of it, I would have like a picture of the bunch bowl too. Anyway, I really wish I would have had more pics taken (Missed you Maya) but other than that, the shower was amazing. We received so many wonderful gifts. Thank you everyone!

Sunday was fun…at least for me. I got to organize Camden’s room! I woke up early and started going through the gifts. I showed Brian everything and started sorting through the clothes first (all 0-6 mths are cleaned and put away). While mom and I were “organizing”, Brian put the glider together. It looks great in the room. Brian actually almost fell asleep in it. There are still a few things we need and part of me wants to go out and buy them now, but we still have two more showers (work and neighborhood) so Brian said I have to wait!

Here are some pics from the weekend! Thanks again Keira, Laurel and Cindy for planning such a wonderful shower. And thank you to our friends and family for your love and generosity! We are very lucky to have all of you.

This past month...

Two big things happened this past month and I haven't had time to write about them so here I go...

Congratulations Laurel and Jason! Cole Wilson Naegele was born on January 24th at 8:10am. He’s absolutely adorable and I can’t believe my best friend is a Mommy! She’s doing such a wonderful job and Jason is so sweet with him. I’m looking forward to making many more wonderful memories with the three of them.

Happy Birthday Zane! My adorable nephew turned one on February 7th. I can’t believe it’s been a year already. Pat and Maya are doing such an incredible job with him. For is birthday, Pat and Maya had the family over to their house for dinner (all of Zane’s favorite food was served). We had such a great time. They put Zane in his crib with balloons and he didn’t want to get out because he was having so much fun. Then at one point during the day, he started crawling against the wall. After a few minutes we realized he was following his shadow! Too cute! And the cupcake…this was funny. He smashed the cupcake on his tray. He wasn’t too worried about eating it because he was to busy studying his hand that was covered in frosting. He would just open and close it over and over. It was cute to watch. Then he decided to share it with Griswald, Winston and Truman. They love a baby that shares!

A few weeks ago Pat, Maya and Zane came over to Columbus to visit and take pics of Baby Cole for Laurel and Jason. It’s absolutely amazing to see how much a baby grows and changes in the first year. I kept looking at Zane and then at Cole. They’re only a year apart but they are so different. Zane has grown is so many ways. I can’t wait to see what this year brings.

It’s New Year’s Eve…

I have plans tonight; plans to celebrate the New Year with good friends, plans that were made before I found out I was pregnant, plans that I now want to cancel. All I really feel like doing is crawling back into bed. I want to sleep for the next 3 weeks! That’s when this sick hangover type feeling is supposed to go away...right?

I spoke with a friend this weekend. A friend who found out she and her husband lost a baby about the time Brian and I found out we were expecting a baby. I didn’t even know she was pregnant but she suspected I was and didn’t want to tell me until she thought I could handle it. Although she seems okay, I can’t imagine what she must be going through. Our conversation made me realize that although I feel horrible, I should embrace this pregnancy and enjoy every minute of it. So from now on, I’m going to try to smile and thank God for the miracle he has brought us even when I am sitting on the bathroom floor sick to my stomach. As for tonight, I’m going to join my friends for dinner (although I’m skipping the late night dancing) and celebrate the memories we made in 2007 and toast to what 2008 has to bring.

Have a Safe and Happy New Year!

Leslie and Eric's European Trip

My friend Leslie and her fiancĂ©, Eric did something I'm sure we all wish we could have done or could do. They decided to take 6 months off from everyday life and travel Europe! Here’s the link to her blog if you’re interested in reading about some of their adventures.

Surprise!

I have the sweetest husband and friends in the world! They threw me a surprise birthday party last night. It was exactly what I needed! I was down and out about turning 29 and they all made me feel so much better (so did the bottle of wine I drank)! I thought we were just going over to Jared and Cindy’s for dinner but when we got there, everyone was there to surprise me. It was perfect!

Thank you honey. I love you!!!

Congratulations - Laurel and Jason!!!

Congratulations to two of my best friends, Laurel and Jason! They’re expecting!! Laurel and Jason stopped by my place last night before volleyball and while we were out back she told me she’s 8 weeks pregnant! My response...I started jumping up and down (while hugging her) and crying. We've have been talking about this for such a long time and it's finally happened! I am so happy that Brian and I are back in Columbus and we get to share this wonder time with the two of them. I’m also excited to have close friends go through this first so they can keep us (well me) calm when it our turn!
