My poor little guy...

I've never felt so helpless in my entire life. In the past two weeks we've taken Camden to the pediatrician 3 times, called the pediatrician 4 or 5 times, have had two prescriptions filled... and he's still not feeling well. It started off with him being moody and spitting up, then it was that plus an ear infection and now all of that plus vomiting, diarrhea, and a fever. It's like he just keeps getting worse. He's spent the past three days in my arms. He is sleeping in his crib at night but trust me, it's taking all I have to not scoop him up when I go in to check on him. This is him sleeping just a few minutes ago. I couldn't help it. I had to take a picture. He's is the most precious thing in the enire world. I hope he starts feeling better soon!

He loves his Tigger Blankie...

The two of us cuddling earlier today.

Our new 1/2 bath...

We have a long list of DYI projects and we haven't started any since completing Camden's nursery. So a couple of weeks ago we decided to start a weekend project... remodel the 1/2 bathroom – new flooring, new paint color, new light fixture, new outlets/switches, and a new faucet. Needless to say, we ran into a few problems….

For some reason whoever originally installed the pedestal sink didn’t install shut off valves so we decided we should install them - Quick and easy, it should only take 5 minutes… right? Wrong! More like 5 hours which included 4 trips to the hardware store, 4 calls to friends for advice and 1 hilarious minute when we thought we had the valve on correct but when I turned on the water it shot off the pipe, hit B in the stomach and water went everywhere! It was pretty funny.

Our next hurdle came when we tried installing the toilet. Okay, I shouldn’t say we. All I did was paint the walls, Brian did everything else. Anyway…again, whoever installed the toilet didn’t install it correctly so when B tried to reinstall it, it wasn’t the easiest thing to do. So to make a long story short we had someone from my company come and install the toilet.

So our weekend DYI project turned into a week long project but in the end, Brian did a fantastic job. I still have a few things to add, like a shelf and maybe a picture but the bathroom looks 100% better than it did! Can’t wait to start on the main bathroom!

Another 1st for Camden...

Camden, the little boy who’s always happy, hardly spits up and loves to eat has turned into a cranky baby who refuses to eat a full bottle and gets sick if he does. We took him to see the pediatrician last week (his doctor wasn’t in) and we were told he was just in a "funk". Well, his “funk” seemed to get worse over the weekend so we decided to take him back to see his pediatrician yesterday. After examining him we were told that our little guy has his 1st ear infection. Poor little guy!

Last Night...

Something happened last night. Something happened that hasn't happened in over a year. It started off like any other night. We fed Camden around 7:30pm, changed him, read to him and put him down for the night around 8:30pm and I headed to bed around 10:30pm. It was an ordinary night. Except last night...last night, I slept the entire night. Why? Because Camden slept the entire night! He did it. He finally did it! I woke up 5:30am - not to a crying baby but to my alarm clock. I asked Brian to turn up the monitor so I could make sure he was still breathing and he was of course. I wanted to go in and check on him but I did that the last time I thought he was going to sleep through the night and ended up waking him up. I still can't believe I slept through the night. Even without a crying baby - I usually still wake up for one reason or another. Sleep is good. Sleep is very good!

5 months...

This is one of my favorite pictures of you. It's a little blurry but you’re so happy and absolutely adorable! I love that toothless smile. It's a smile that will be changing soon. I noticed a couple days ago that you had a tooth coming in. I checked yesterday to make sure I wasn’t just imagining it and noticed both bottom teeth have popped through. I still can’t believe it. Although I am very excited about this, there’s a part of me that’s also a little sad. It just reminds me of how fast you are growing. Not only did you roll over (from your back to your stomach) for the first time this week but you’re also getting teeth! Slow down. Mommy can only take so much at once!

Five months old today! This past month was big for you (and mommy and daddy). You started eating solids, we celebrated your 1st Christmas and New Years, you rolled over and your teeth started coming in. I’d say that’s a lot for such a little guy.

Simply said, you love food. Okay, so you’re not a huge fan of plain rice cereal but who is. Dinner time is one of my favorite times of the day. You just make me smile the entire time. If I don’t feed you fast enough you grunt and just sit there with your mouth wide open just waiting for the spoon to hit your lips. Oh! One of your favorite things to do while eating - pooping. You are your father’s son! Anyway, we somehow manage to get food all over the place. Griswald and Winston will love this once you start eating finger foods. I’m sure half of your meal will somehow end up on the floor for them to eat.

As for Gris and Win, you love them. If you’re upset all I have to do is get them playing together and you just smile and laugh at them. This is great when we’re trying to do tummy time (you’re still not a fan). You just lift your little head and watch them.

A new thing you started to do this month is grab at my nose and mouth when I’m rocking you at night. It’s like you’re trying to memorize my face. One time you even fell asleep with my nose in your hand! You’ve also started staring at your hands. You’ve always had a thing for your hands but that usually involved sucking on them. Now you’re starting at them. You just wave them slowing in front of you and stare in amazement.

In the picture below, your playing with one of your Christmas presents. I love to watch you play. You're not just playing, you're learning. It's just amazing.

Christmas was so much fun. You loved the wrapping paper and I love starting our new family traditions. I hope you know how much joy you bring to me and your daddy. You just make every day so much better.

Other exciting things that happened this month:
1. 1st picture with Santa - You gave me and Santa a great big toothless smile! Love it!
2. Grandma and Grandpa Ziegman flew in from Arizona and spent a week with us. I'm so glad you got to share quality time with them.
3. Grandma and Grandpa Laurent came over from Indiana for the weekend to watch you while daddy and I went to a Christmas party and to go to a Blue Jackets game with us.

Another Milestone..

He did it!!!! He rolled over and Brian and I were both there to see it! Once he realized what he had done he start to cry. I'm not sure if it was because he hates being on is stomach or because I was jumping up and down and scared him. I'm just so glad we were both there to see it!!

Wildlights at the Zoo...

Brian and I started off the New Year by bundling up and taking Camden to Wildlights at the Zoo. Although we didn't see many animals and we never did find the trains we had so much fun. Here's some pics from our evening...

Simple Pleasures

I received a gift for Christmas. It's called 365 Simple Pleasures. It give you recipes, craft ideas and other little ideas to help you bring pleasure to your life. The first one is to make a Simple Pleasures List. Here's a quick list of mine:

My top 6 Simple Pleasures List:
1. Taking a hot bubble bath
2. Seeing Camden smile or hearing him laugh
3. Cuddling with my pups and reading a good book
4. Hot apple cider
5. Cuddling on the couch with B and watching a movie
6. Planning - anything from dinner parties to weddings

New Year's Eve

What’s better than staying in eating pizza, drinking martini’s, playing Wii and ring in the New Year with two close friends and our little guy?!

Camden wishing everyone a Happy New Year before heading off to bed...

Brandon and I with our girlie drinks (notice the fingers)...

Brian with his manly drink...

Keira taking a quick nap before the new year...Isn't she an adorable pregnant woman?!

We decided to break out the Wii. It was hilarious watching Brandon do the step and the hula hoop games! Keira kicked butt on the ski jump!

As for my new year's resolution this year... I decided on several.

1. Get in shape – I know, I know. That’s on everyone lists but it’s one of mine too. Everyone told me the last 5 pounds was the hardest to loose after having a baby. Those people are lucky! For me it’s the last 10!!!
2. Read a little each night before going to bed - I’ve been having a hard time finding time to read, so from now on the TV's being turned off and a book/magazine is being opened.
3. Find a church – This is something I’ve been talking about doing for awhile. I just need to do it.
4. Put things away after I’m done using it – I need to do this. I used to be organized. Brian now says I am the most unorganized organized person.
